SPEARFISHING TRAINING PROGRAM

Get one of a kind ten weeks training program, that will help you boost your spearfishing endurance!

4-5 workouts per week

2 apnea workouts and 3 dry sessions each week. Dry sessions include strength and endurance training as well as additional static apnea tables.

Dry / pool workouts

Each program includes dry and pool versions in case you don’t have access to the pool.

Required equipment

Jogging equipment for dry workouts and swimming gear for pool training. Additionally, you will need short swimming fins and neck weight. For dry apnea workouts, we recommend using a spinner bike.

This is a 10 weeks program + guidance during the spearfishing season.

BOTTOM TIME

Extended bottom time is our main objective. To achieve that, you will receive guidance for improving all fitness parameters:

SURFACE INTERVALS

The duration of your surface interval depends on your CO2 tolerance and overall endurance. The Spearfishing Training Program involves high-intensity CO2 training intervals that help you improve your hypercapnic tolerance as well as swimming endurance.

SMOOTH MOVEMENTS

What determines if the fish will approach you or not, is the way you move and hide at the bottom and on the way there. Our pool version of the Spearfishing Training program will help you improve your aquatic skills. You will be able to move more quietly and come to the fish closer than you could ever imagine.

LATER CONTRACTIONS

Discomfort and urge to breathe are very important during the dive. On one hand, Spearfishing Training Program’s training sets include elite static and dynamic apnea workouts, that help you to build up your hypoxic and hypercapnic capabilities.  On the other hand, it also involves advanced breathing and stretching techniques. Finally, a combination of both improves your relaxation and overall breath-hold abilities. It results in longer and more pleasant dives.

INCREASED DEPTH

Specific strength and anaerobic capacity workouts adjusted to the spearfishing needs will help you to reach the bottom fresh and safely return to the surface. On the surface, you will recover faster and be ready to repeat greater depths more often. However, to dive deep you cannot avoid other specific skills and capabilities. Therefore we strongly recommend you to constantly improve your freediving knowledge. Those skills are:

  • Overall Freediving Knowledge
  • Depth Adaptation
  • Equalization Techniques
  • Rescue Skills

ENDURANCE & RECOVERY

To be able to stay in the water for hours and repeat it day after day, you need to have specific endurance and ability to recover as fast as possible. Spearfishing Training Program involves smart training sets that elite swimmers and freedivers are using for fast recovery during the exhausting international competitions. You will also receive guidance and examples of good practice for your spearfishing adventures.

KNOWLEDGE

All our programs have a detailed explanation of all training sets, how to prepare for them, and how to execute them. The Spearfishing Training program includes also guidelines on how to stay in shape during the season, how to plan your meals, and what to eat during your spearfishing adventures and overall guidelines for longer and safer dives.
